News! Leopolan Hotel, Edinburgh

We are delighted to have been hired to work on renovating and restoring the iconic Leopold Place Hotel previously known as the Playfair Hotel, in Edinburgh. A Grade A-listed building, which was designed by well-known, William Henry Playfair who was a prominent Scottish architect in the 19th century, who designed the Eastern, or Third, New Town and many of Edinburgh’s neoclassical landmarks.

This sizeable project will see us renovate this wonderful building. It features approximately 25 rooms as well as an Indian restaurant in the basement. Our first job is to strip out the restaurant including the commercial kitchen which will be challenging and take it right back to the bare walls. Will fit new electrics and convert the restaurant into eight excellent guest rooms.

There are several challenges are working on a Grade A-listed building including the fact that there are several restrictions regarding changes made to the external part of the building. However, we’re delighted that we will be reinstating some of the original and historic features on the outside of the building including the original timber windows. On the inside, we’ll be designing and creating purpose-built, long-lasting guest rooms and communal areas.
